Ways to Work With Us

One matter, one fixed fee, agreed before we start.

Not every matter calls for ongoing counsel. Sometimes there is a single transaction to close, an agreement to negotiate, a company to reorganize or a discrete question that needs a clear answer. South Hill Law takes on defined pieces of corporate, commercial and transactional work on a fixed fee, so you know both the scope and the cost before we begin.

Let’s Talk

How It Works

01

Tell us about the matter

Send us the essentials: what you are working on, the documents involved and any deadline. You do not need to diagnose the legal issue yourself or know which category it falls under.

02

We scope the work

We confirm what the engagement covers, identify the work involved and flag anything else worth knowing before you commit.

03

A fixed fee, up front

You receive a scope of work and a fixed-fee quote before we start, so you know what is included and what it costs, with no surprises.

Well Suited To

Discrete corporate and transactional matters. A single matter is a defined piece of work that can be handled on its own. In our practice, that often looks like:

Purchase & Sale Agreements

Reviewing, drafting or negotiating the agreement for a specific acquisition or sale.

Shareholder & Partnership Agreements

Putting the arrangement between owners in writing, or reviewing one before you sign.

Corporate Reorganizations

A defined change to corporate structure, ownership or capitalization.

Commercial Agreements

A key customer, supplier or partnership agreement that needs to hold up.

Financing & Loan Documents

Loan agreements, guarantees and security reviewed before you commit.

Independent Legal Advice

Independent counsel to a director, shareholder or investor on a specific decision.

Common Questions

What counts as a single matter?

A single matter is a discrete piece of legal work that can be handled on its own, such as reviewing or negotiating an agreement, incorporating or reorganizing a company, preparing a shareholders’ agreement, reviewing a lease or financing document, or advising on a specific corporate question.

Should I choose a single matter or ongoing counsel?

If you have a single task or transaction in front of you, a fixed-fee single matter is usually the right fit. If legal questions arise regularly across the business, ongoing counsel through our External General Counsel retainer may serve you better. Where the answer is not obvious, we will help you decide in our first conversation.

Do I need to know exactly what I need?

Not at all. Tell us what is happening and share the relevant documents, and we will identify the work involved and explain the next steps.

How much will it cost?

Once we understand the scope, we provide a fixed-fee quote before any work begins. You will know precisely what is included, and what it will cost, from the outset.

What happens if the scope changes?

If something arises that materially changes the work required, we will raise it with you before proceeding beyond the agreed scope and discuss any additional fee in advance.

Is the first conversation complimentary?

Yes. An initial consultation allows us to understand the matter, answer your first questions and determine how best we can assist.

Have a matter in front of you?

Tell us what you are working on and we will help you identify the right next step.
