Our practice is defined by a focus on corporate, commercial, securities and private mergers and acquisitions (M&A). South Hill Law is led by Laura H. Wolfe, a corporate, commercial and transactional lawyer. Laura advises clients on corporate law, securities, private M&A and general commercial matters, with guidance that is practical, informed and grounded in each client’s objectives.
Full bio
Before founding South Hill Law, Laura practised on Bay Street and in-house in private equity, advising businesses and investors on acquisitions, investments, financings, commercial arrangements and the corporate matters in between. That experience shapes how she practises today: considered advice, delivered directly and grounded in the commercial objectives behind the work.
Laura is committed to understanding each client’s individual needs, whether she is guiding the purchase or sale of a business, supporting an equity raise or serving as external general counsel. She also co-authors the Directors’ Briefing, a quarterly newsletter published by LexisNexis on contentious issues in the boardroom.

Recent work includes private M&A transactions in Canada and the United States, including acting for Lynx Equity Limited as in-house counsel on its acquisitions of:
- Henry’s, Canada’s Greatest Camera Store, a family-owned business with over 20 locations across Canada and one of the largest in the country’s digital imaging industry.
- Buse Timber & Sales Inc., a sawmill serving the US West Coast in niche commercial markets, located in Everett, Washington.
- Resource4Floors, a full-service commercial flooring contractor providing distribution and installation of flooring materials, headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
- Excellent Signs, a signage manufacturer servicing businesses across North America, located in London, Ontario.
- Granite Electric Ltd., one of the largest electrical contractors in Alberta, providing electrical and fibre-optic contracting with a focus on telecommunication infrastructure, based in Calgary, Alberta.
Additional work includes advising private equity sponsors, investors and private companies on acquisitions, investments, financings and ongoing corporate and commercial matters.
